There seems to be many problems with the case: The complaint needs to be support by an affidavit of fact (exactly what you did, step by step). The judicial officer making a probable cause determination has to look at the affidavit of fact to determine if there is a good possibility that something did happen. A complaint not supported by an affidavit of fact is worthless.
It maybe water under the bridge but if the summons you got to appear in court didn't not have the complaint attached (that means stapled) than the summons is insufficient process and worthless. If you do appear in court without doing it as a special appearance to clear the matter, then you 'undo' the error of the summons.
